A feature of the project and a challenge for us is an architectural dialogue between a historical building and a modern extension.
We left the existing appearance of the main building, but the new volume of the auditorium has a dynamic modern architecture. We combined both parts with a glass atrium, which allows better lighting of the interior space and creates a visual pause between the historic and new buildings.
The facades of the auditorium have a semi-mirror shell made of perforated panels of a broken shape. The color of the panels has a greenish tint, which is associated with the fact that Irpen is a green city.
We moved the sculptures from the main entrance to the hall and placed them in a mini-museum of the building's history. Thus, we removed the ideological communist coloring and at the same time preserved the history of the house of culture.
